Mulberry Street Water Main Project

Water Main Replacement Project

Sewickley Water Authority will be replacing the water main and installing new service lines to the curb stops on your street.

Work will take place on Mulberry Street between Centennial St. and Hill St.

Status Update:

Site prep work will be on 8/17/2018. Parking restrictions will be in effect from 7 A.M. to 5 P.M.
8/20/18 Update: The contractor will be saw cutting the street Tuesday or Wednesday of this week and will begin to install the main line next week. The street will remain posted for daytime parking restrictions (7 A.M. until 5 P.M.) until the completion of the project. Construction schedule can change due to weather and any unforeseen circumstances. Any changes will be posted here as soon as they are available
8/28/2018 Update: The contractor will be moving equipment and mobilizing to start installation of new water main on Mulberry Street today. Please be advised that parking restrictions are in place and will be enforced starting Wednesday, August 29th. It is anticipated that construction of the new main will be completed by the end of the week. Once completed it will be disinfected and tested. Once testing is complete the contractor will tentatively return to start swapping services to the new main the week of September 13th. Water service to each customer will be interrupted for several hours while a new service line and curb stop are installed. The new service line will then be connected to the existing service line that runs into each property. The service line from the curb valve to your home is the customers responsibility. If a customer service line is found to be constructed of lead or is leaking it will not be hooked up until it is replaced by a plumber at the customers expense.
9/5/2018 Update: The new main line is installed, the line has been hydrostatically tested and bacteria testing is being completed. The contractor is currently swapping services on another new main and will return to Mulberry the week of September 10th.
9/14/18 UPDATE: The contractor is currently swapping services to the new line, the process may take up to 4 hours per connection. Customers will be notified when their service will be interrupted. Once service is reinstated customers may experience higher pressure, air in the line and discolored water. All of these conditions can be corrected by flushing the water service line at a point nearest entry in to the house or an out-side hose bib. Work should be completed by mid-week next week. Parking restrictions will be in place from 8 AM to 5 PM until work has been completed.
9/20/18 UPDATE: The contractor will be completing the final tie-in into the distribution system today. There may be service interruptions for up to 6 hours starting between 8 AM and 10 AM.
9/23/18 UPDATE: All water line construction on Mulberry Street has been completed. We are working with the contractor and the Borough of Sewickley on the restoration of the road and sidewalks. Parking restrictions have been lifted until the road and sidewalk restoration begins. Thank you for your patience during this project.
10/9/2018 Update: Final road restoration work began today. Bricks are being removed and paving will begin tomorrow. Once paving is complete, all parking restrictions will be lifted. Upon completion of paving, all parking restrictions will be lifted.
10/11/18 Update: Due to the rain today, final paving will be completed on Friday, October 12th. The contractor may be on site today, October 11th, to complete the prep work.
